What is your journalistic background?

I have been foreign editor since the beginning of 2010. Before that, I was head of news and Washington bureau chief. I joined The Times in 1998 as political correspondent.

How significant is foreign coverage to The Times?

Foreign news always has been and always will be core to The Times and its values. We have a terrific network of correspondents.

What are your thoughts on following such a renowned foreign editor as Richard Beeston?

I am honoured to be able to take up a role performed with such style, courage and distinction by Richard Beeston.
